The Patrol Division is the backbone of BCSO. Deputies conduct routine county patrols, respond to calls for service, and maintain public safety. This division is where most officers start their career, handling traffic stops, disturbances, and community interactions.
This unit focuses on enforcing traffic laws and investigating DUI offenses. Deputies handle vehicle stops, traffic-related incidents, and assist with public safety on the county’s roads, often working closely with other specialized units.
The Mobile Breacher Unit is part of BCSO’s CERT team, trained for high-risk entries, barricaded suspects, and tactical operations. Officers in this unit are equipped for dangerous situations requiring advanced coordination and response.
Detectives handle complex criminal cases, gather evidence, and interview suspects. They work closely with Patrol officers to follow up on incidents and solve crimes, ensuring justice is served through detailed investigations and case management.
SWAT Deputies respond to high-risk situations, including armed suspects and hostage scenarios. This unit is trained in tactical entries, crowd control, and advanced firearms deployment, providing essential support during critical incidents.
The K9 Unit works closely with Patrol and Special Units using police service dogs for tracking suspects, detecting narcotics, and performing search-and-rescue operations. Deputies in this unit undergo specialized training to deploy and manage their canine partners effectively.
Air Support provides aerial reconnaissance, traffic monitoring, and tactical oversight. Helicopter units assist ground teams during pursuits, searches, and emergency responses, giving officers a strategic advantage from above.
The Marine Unit patrols waterways and handles maritime emergencies. Deputies in this unit conduct water rescues, enforce boating laws, and support other divisions during river or coastal operations.
This unit specializes in the secure movement of prisoners between facilities or court appearances. Deputies ensure safety and adherence to protocol during all transport operations.
Animal Control handles wildlife management, stray animals, and public safety related to animals in Blaine County. Deputies assist with rescues and ensure proper handling of any animal-related incidents.
The Pedal Bike Unit provides flexible, mobile patrols throughout dense urban areas or events. Deputies use bicycles to quickly navigate where vehicles cannot, maintaining visibility and public safety.
